Rudolf Bonnet
Born in Amsterdam (1895 – 1978).
Rudolf Bonnet studied at the Rijks School voor Kunstnijverheid (National Arts and Crafts School) and the Rijksakademie (National Academy) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Between 1929 and 1940 the artist stayed in Ubud and became involved in community issues including healthcare and education. Bonnet was also very involved in the Pita Maha movement, which encouraged local artists to raise their artistic standards. He was captured by the Japanese during World War II, and returned to Bali in 1946. In 1947 Bonnet returned to Ubud where he tried to return to his pre-war activities. The artist organized the first post-war Balinese exhibition under the auspices of the new Republik Indonesia Timur. He also organized a new association, meant to follow in the footsteps of Pita Maha, called the Golongan Pelukis Ubud in 1953 and the Museum Puri Lukisan (Royal Museum of Painting) in 1956 in Ubud. Due to age and illness he was unable to finish the catalog of the museum, but he did donate his private collection which became the core of it.
Rudolf Bonnet died in Laren, Holland on April 18, 1978. His body was ceremonially cremated in Bali in 1979.

Born in Medan, North Sumatra (1912 – 2005).
He studied at the Kala Bhawana Santiniketan University of Rabindranath Tagore, Bengal, India from 1932 to 1936. He spent 6 years in India studying pure painting art, fine art of mural and relief, architecture, as well as eastern art philosophy of Shantiniketan tradition and thought. Going back home from India, he directly participated in Indonesian physical revolution for independence fought against the colonialist. After the era of revolutionary war, in 1951, Rusli was designated to become a lecturer in Indonesian Fine Art Academy (ASRI) at Jogjakarta (of which now has changed to Indonesian Art Institute or ISI).
He obtained an opportunity to travel around Western Europe in 1953-1956, based on an invitation of Sticusa; a Dutch cultural institution in Indonesia that is now recognized as Erasmus Huis. Public in Europe obviously appreciated so much his artworks as shown in his sequential exhibitions in Rome, Den Haag, and Amsterdam. At the time of his exhibition in Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, at Kunst Zaal Plaats Den Haag, and Ismeo Roma, he was bestowed with warm appreciation from a lot of Western journalist as a master with perfect technique.
Rusli continued his extraordinary track record in 1960 when he was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the International of Plastic Art UNESCO (IAPA) in Indonesia. He passed away in Jakarta on 11 May 2005.

Fadjar Sidik
Born in Surabaya, East Java (1930-2004).
Fadjar studied English literature at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) before enrolling at the Indonesia Academy of Fine Arts (ASRI) in Yogyakarta. Between 1957-1961 he was in Bali to become a professional painter, there not only did he painted his impressions of the land and life of the Balinese, but witnessed the rapid tourist developments that made Balinese culture increasingly artificial as well. In response, Fadjar was moved to create his own form of expression by painting through pure impulse. He began with semi-abstract forms, which became more abstract after he became a lecturer at ASRI (Indonesia Academy of Fine Arts) at the end of 1961 in Yogyakarta. He gained the national art award from the Government in 1971 and Penghargaan Seni award from Yogyakarta in 1993, he was also active in seminars and art symposiums and has been a jury in the Biennale exhibition in Jakarta and two times in a row jury at the Art Biennale in Yogyakarta held at Taman Budaya Yogyakarta in 1988 and 1990.
Fadjar Sidik died on January 18, 2004 at his home in Yogyakarta. The artist has become an agent of change in modern painting and a pioneer of abstract art in Indonesia.

I Ketut Murtika
He is a Batuan painter born in Bali, Indonesia (1952).
In Batuan developed a rich, dense use of Chinese ink in washes, layered to create an atmosphere of dark shades off white highlights. The paintings depicted Balinese daily life or the strange ghosts and spirits haunting the Balinese people's psyche. This early Batuan school of the 1930s was a short period of absolute expressive freedom.

Agung Mangu Putra
Born in Selat, Sangeh, Bali (1963).
Agung Mangu Putra finished his education in Visual Communication Designing in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (Indonesia Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta) in 1990.
The artist won the Philip Morris Indonesia Art Award in 1994.
His creativity has been documented in the book Mangu Putra: Nature, Culture, Tension (2000).Mangu Putra’s works arise from intense contact with the world as a conscious expression of his main creative orientation. Representations of natural phenomena, along with the inner pulse of life, form the main stream of his search. The natural world, such as mountains and coasts, are depicted as identifiable objects. Some of his works with abstract designs imply natural images, such as the character of water and the texture and colours of earth or stone.

Edo Pop
Born in Palembang, South Sumatra (1972).
He studied at Sekolah Menengah Seni Rupa (SMSR, High School of Fine Arts) in Palembang from 1989 to 1993 and at Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (Indonesian Institute of the arts Yogyakarta) from 1995 to 2000.
He has been involved in various artists organizations in Palembang and Yogyakarta since 1990, including the Sanggar Bidar Sriwijaya which he co-founded in 1998, and Rumah Seni Muara, Yogyakarta in 2003. Eduard has had solo exhibitions in Copenhagen, Denmark, Surabaya and Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He has participated in group exhibitions in USA, Canada, Singapore and Indonesia since 1995.
In 2002 he received the second prize in the Indofood Art Awards.
The Paintings of Eduard have unique qualities full of entangled forms, colours, lines and apparent textures. The artist is strong in his exploration of figures that appear strange and fantastic, a style that he developed around the year 2000.
